When it came time to choose a business name for my freelance company the list of brainstormed ideas became very long. What did I want you the potential client to feel, understand, to deduce about my ability to meet your needs when I write?
In Romeo and Juliet, William Shakespeare wrote, “A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.” While many of the considered names were good, I chose The Cogent Nightengale to reflect the meaning and value of my writing purpose and skills.
Being a registered nurse I studied the impact that Florence Nightingale had in making nursing a respectable profession. She believed that nursing had a different focus than the practice of medicine; that patient’s needed environmental conditions to allow the body to heal. She implemented changes and documented outcomes which codified her theory. Her theories, evidence, and practices endure today because she wrote them down.
